The five steps in detail
Each step below expands the panel above with the numbers you will actually use at the stake you choose.
Most slots teach themselves in one spin: a line lands, the game pays, you know what you are looking at. Pirots 5 asks for a little more than that, because nothing here happens on a line. Instead of paylines, the birds’ collection pays, and the win builds where they walk. Work through the steps below in the demo above and the game becomes obvious.
Step 1: pick your world#
The map comes before the reels. Cursed Temple, The Kraken and City of Gold sit on it, and your choice decides three things: which ten feature symbols appear, which corner fight you get, and which coin game. The temple sends a bird into the catacombs against a mummy; The Kraken runs a land-crab fight in the captain’s quarters; the City of Gold puts a shaman in the treasure chamber. Win all four fights in a world and a coin is added to every coffin position.
What does not change is the maths. The same grid, the same birds, the same payout ladder and the same return sit behind all three, so this is a choice about scenery and structure rather than value. If you have never played, start in the Cursed Temple. The demo opens there, and its coin game is triggered by the secret door clearing the grid, which is the quickest way to learn what that rotation feature is for.
There is a long game on the map, too. Three tokens hide in each world, nine altogether, and collecting all nine unlocks Boss Castle permanently. A token also pays as it lands, at the value of a 5x coin, so rotating between worlds costs you nothing. The features page has each world’s symbol set in full.
The worlds do differ in how a round tends to unfold, and it is worth knowing before you settle. The Cursed Temple hangs its coin game on the secret door clearing the grid, so the rotation feature is the thing to watch there. The Kraken’s coin game runs on three drops that reset whenever a landing symbol appears, which means a round there can keep extending itself well past the point you expected it to finish. The City of Gold plays its coin game across the full 8x8 board with the Mastermind expanding to cover up to 5x5 of it, so it is the busiest screen of the three. Switching between them is free and the token count carries over, so treat the map as a rotation rather than a commitment.

Step 2: set your bet#
The bet selector runs from 0.20 to 100 EUR across 12 levels, and everything else on the screen is a multiple of it. Coins are the other unit to know: 100 coins equal one bet, which is how the paytable’s coin values become money.
| Your bet | Bonus Hunt (3x) | Bonus (100x) | Super Bonus (250x) | Round cap (10,000x) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.20 EUR | 0.60 EUR | 20 EUR | 50 EUR | 2,000 EUR |
| 1.00 EUR | 3 EUR | 100 EUR | 250 EUR | 10,000 EUR |
| 10 EUR | 30 EUR | 1,000 EUR | 2,500 EUR | 100,000 EUR |
| 100 EUR | 300 EUR | 10,000 EUR | 25,000 EUR | 1,000,000 EUR |
Read the middle columns before you read the last one. The cap is the headline, but the purchase prices are the numbers you will meet in practice, and they move by a factor of 500 between the two ends of the ladder. A good rule for a first session: pick the level where Bonus at 100x is a price you would pay twice without flinching, and you will have chosen a stake that suits your balance rather than your optimism.

Step 3: how CollectR pays#
Press spin and four birds appear on a 6x6 grid, each with its own gem colour. Every bird collects the gems of its colour that sit next to it, plus any feature symbol it touches, and it keeps collecting while something collectable remains adjacent. When the walk stops, new symbols drop in to refill the board and the next walk can begin. The grid itself can expand to 8x8, which simply means more room to walk before a collection ends.
What each collection pays depends on the gem’s payout level, and this is the part worth learning properly. Every colour climbs through seven levels. Blue, for example, pays 5 coins at level 1 and then 15, 25, 45, 120, 375 and 1,000 as it rises. At 100 coins to a bet, a level-1 blue collection returns a twentieth of your stake and a level-7 one returns 10x it, which is two hundred times as much from the identical event. On a 1.00 EUR bet that is five cents against 10 EUR; at the 0.20 EUR minimum it is one cent against 2 EUR.
So a Pirots 5 spin is not really asking “did I win?” It is asking two questions at once: how far did the birds walk, and how high were the gems they walked through. Level 7 is the ceiling, and upgrade symbols are how you get there.
The other four colours behave the same way with different numbers. Red is the top gem, running 10, 25, 40, 75, 200, 625 and 2,500 coins, which is 25x your bet at the ceiling. Green climbs from 10 coins to 1,500, purple from 5 to 750, and the premium group has the widest spread of all: 15 coins at level 1 and 3,000 at level 7, which is 30x your stake from one collection. Keep those two ends in mind while you spin and the game’s pacing makes sense immediately: early collections are small on purpose, because the game is selling you the climb rather than the first hit.
That also explains why hit frequency and profit are separate questions here. Something lands on 25.1% of spins by the product sheet and 26.11% in the demo configuration, and every one of those collections is priced by the level the gems had reached at the time. The upgrades decide whether an evening turns, which is why watching the meter beats watching the balance.
Step 4: the meter and the feature symbols#
The meter above the grid is the game’s memory. It fills with the gems and wilds the birds collect, and every time it fills it queues one feature-symbol release. Up to three of those can wait at once, and they are released simultaneously, which is why the board sometimes changes completely in a single step.
What arrives from the queue is what shapes the round. A wild substitutes for any gem at that gem’s current payout level, so it is worth whatever the board has become. Transform recolours a cluster of gems into the collecting bird’s colour and super transform does it to two or three clusters, and either can turn gems into feature symbols instead. Upgrade and upgrade all move gems up the ladder.
Three more things move on the board while this happens. The secret door rotates the whole grid, carrying symbols and birds with it and often handing a stranded bird a fresh neighbour. Portals appear among the walls, four at most at a time, and teleport a bird, while connected walls act as tunnels that can reveal feature symbols. And on the rim sit the traps: arrow shooters in the Cursed Temple, harpoons in The Kraken, firing when the birds can no longer collect. A hit bird is removed and its gems turn over to another bird’s colour, which can quietly set up the next collection.
Step 5: into the bonus game#
Three bonus symbols collected by the birds open the bonus game, and it plays as bonus drops. The detail that makes the base game worth building: your grid size, your meter progress and your gems’ payout level all travel in with you, along with up to ten bonus features: the bandit, the alien invasion, the yeti, fire minions, Charlie, cursed treasure, the golden compass cannon, the Kraken, the golden book and the Mastermind. The round continues while hearts remain and ends when they run out or when the maximum win lands. Should a super bonus symbol be one of the three the birds picked up, it is the super bonus game that opens.
The second path in is X-iter, and the rule to remember is that it is activated from the base game, so open it before you start a round rather than during one. Bonus Hunt at 3x and Mega Hunt at 10x improve the chance of the bonus arriving: more than 4x in the Cursed Temple and 5x in the other worlds for the first, more than 10x or 20x for the second. The 50x, 100x and 250x prices guarantee the coin game, the bonus and the super bonus respectively. Because every mode carries the game’s own theoretical payback, the choice between collecting your way in and buying in is about session shape, not about value. Strategy has the arithmetic; features has the full breakdown.
The five habits to leave at the door#
Five reflexes carried over from payline slots cost you here, and the demo above is the cheapest place to unlearn all of them.
Looking for a line. There is not one to find. The win is the path the birds walked, so the question to ask about a spin is how far they got and which gems they passed, not what shape landed.
Setting the stake after the first spin. Every figure in the game is a multiple of the bet level, including all five X-iter prices, so the level is the first decision of the session rather than an adjustment made during it.
Ignoring the meter. It is the only part of the screen that tells you something is accumulating. Three queued releases landing together on a worked board is the game’s best outcome, and it is visible before it happens.
Reaching for X-iter mid-round. It is activated in the base game, so the panel is opened from a standing start. Plan the purchase before you press spin.
Reading the top of the paytable only. A red gem at level 7 pays 2,500 coins, while the same gem at level 1 pays 10 and at level 2 pays 25. Gems arrive at level 1, so the upgrade symbols are what move you from one row to the other, which is why they, not the bonus symbols, are the ones to celebrate early in a session.
Auto spin, tempo and the session tools#
Auto spin runs 10, 25, 50 or 100 rounds, which is the fastest way to see how the collection tempo feels at your stake. Roughly a quarter of spins return something, so a 50-round run at 0.20 EUR costs 10 EUR of turnover and shows you the rhythm rather than a single anecdote.
Beside it sits the reality check, which can remind you after 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. Set it before you start. It is the one control in the game that is about your evening rather than about the reels, and the reminder you chose calmly is worth more than the one you would have given yourself later. Our responsible gambling page covers the rest of the tools.
One more rule worth knowing because it protects you: in the event of a malfunction, all bets and wins of that round are void. A dropped connection mid-bonus resolves itself rather than leaving you arguing about a result.
That is the whole game. Practise it free in the demo above, check the numbers on the RTP page , and when the steps feel automatic, the slot’s main page has the path to a real session.
